The History of Old Buck 1998 = The birth of Beer Hunter's 2001 = The first Finnish single malt "distillery" saw the daylight at the backrooms of the Beer Hunter's pub brewery (8 November at 6pm). 2004 = Second release distilled (20 March). 2004 = First release bottled as 3 years old (25 November). 2004 = First bottles auctioned (1 December) 2005 = Fourth release distilled (26 January). 2008 = Second release bottled as 4 years old (January). 2009 = Third release bottled as 5 years old (10 July). 2010 = Third release bottled as 6 years old (14 April). 2010 = Mika plans to make a smoky version of Old Buck (June) 2011 = Fourth release bottled as 6 years old and introduced at Uisge2011 whisky festivals in Espoo (February). 2012 = 41.1% Old Buck released. (March). Is this the fifth release? I forgot to ask. The whisky is cask strength (70.6% ABV) and it is matured in Portuguese oak casks. The whisky and also the bottle and design are all purely Porinian origin. The package was designed by Markku Penttilδ of Jabadaduu advertising agency from Pori. |
