Pori is one of the oldest towns in Finland and nevertheless fire has destroyed our city couple of times,there still are lots of old buldings in Pori. I've listed here in alphabetical order what to see in Pori. In right the beautiful Theatre building






Yyteri beach (This was the place where Rolling Stones played their first Finnish concert back in 1965). Ilta-Sanomat newspaper's website poll winner in 2007 in category "The best beach in Finland"...



















Boulevards (North, East, South and West)
(Built after 1852 fire to prevent new fires to spread all over the town. Designed by Chiewitz. Very beautiful especially during summertime.)














Cygnaeuksen koulu (Cygnaeus school)
(Built in 1912 and designed by U. Nyström. Beautiful school building which locates in Tasavallankatu 1.)











Hotelli Otava (Hotel Otava)
(Built in 1857 and designed by C.J. von Heideken. This was the place where Finnish Theatre was started back in 1872. Not anymore in use but Pori is renovating this place into its past glory. Locates in Valtakatu 15.)














Keski-Porin Kirkko (Central Church)
(Built in 1859-63 and designed by Chiewitz and von Heideken. Has special see-through speer)























Juseliuksen mausoleumi (Juselius Mausoleum)
(Built in 1903 and designed by Josef Stenbäck. F.A. Juselius built this sanctuary for his late daughter. Inside are paintings by porinian Akseli Gallen-Kallela. Locates in Käppärä graveyard.)





















Kauppahalli (Market Hall)
(This beautiful market hall is a must place to go. Built in 1927. Locates at Yrjönkatu 12.)

















Kirjurinluoto Park
(Plans made in 1891 by A. Fr. Rydberg. This is the perfect place for the picnic. There's also a free park for kids. Also includes some animals + Pori Jazz arenas are located in Kirjurinluoto. There's also a small beach for swimming and sunbathing. If you want to play pool, snooker or miniature golf there's also a place for that. Cafe Kirjurinluoto is in central place. Built in 1910 by A. Fagerholm. Kirjurinluoto locates across the Southern Bank)







Kivi-Pori and Rantamakasiini
(1: Kivi-Pori, Stone-Pori, was built after 1852 fire.
2: Rantamakasiini was built in 1896 and was designed by G. Nyström. Nowadays famous Cafe Jazz locates in there.)






















Merikapteenin talo (the Captain's House)
(Built in 1893 for a marine captain Oscar Heine and it was designed by Ricardo Björnberg. Today owned by a congregation. Locates at Hallituskatu just opposite the theatre building.)













New Town Hall
(a.k.a. Junnelius Palace. Built in 1893-95 and designed by A. Krook. Venice style building with hooks in the wall where you can park your gondole :-) Locates in Hallituskatu 12.)













Pelle Hermannin Puisto (Clown Hermanni's Park)
(This park for kids is huge and there are lots of places where children can play. Locates in Kirjurinluoto Park. Kids just love this Park. It's also free. In the picture is Pirate ship.)

Porin Teatteri (Pori Theatre)
(Built in 1883 and designed by J.E. Stenberg. A. Krook expanded the building in 1899 and the small theatre beside the big one was built in 1974 by K. Simberg. One of the oldest theatre buildings that are still in use... Locates in Hallituskatu 14. Picture's from inside the theatre.)













Poriginal gallery (Ahlströmin makasiini)
(Built in 1885 and designed by F.J. Lindström. Nowadays there is an art gallery. Locates in Eteläranta 6)















Porin metsä - Isomäki (Pori forest - Isomäki)
(Recreational place for porinians. Skiing, jogging, tennis, ice-hockey, swimming, summer theatre etc. Marvelous place in summer just to walk around in the nature. Locates near airport and sport centre.)


















Porin Oluttehdas (Pori Brewery)
(This brewery was the oldest brewery in whole Scandinavia which had stood at the exact same place where it was built. It was formed in 1853 to start brewing lager in Finland. Lager was very popular and at the end of the 1800's there were six breweries in Pori. Pori brewery's main product was called Karhu, Bear but in 2009 Sinebrychoff/Carlsberg's bastards decided to stop the brewing so no more Porinian Karhu. Locates at Hallituskatu.)










Porin taidemuseo, Pakkahuone (Pori Art Museum)
(Built in 1858 and designed by C.J. von Heideken. Locates in Eteläranta)














Puuvillatehdas (Cotton factory)
(Built in 1900 and designed by August Krook. Nowadays Pori University Consortium and many smaller companies locates in there. Northern bank.)















Raatihuone (Old Town Hall) and Raatihuoneenpuisto (Raatihuone Park)
(Built in 1839-41 and designed by C.L. Engel. Tower was designed by J.E. Stenberg in 1891. Locates in Hallituskatu 9A. In the cellar locates excellent restaurant...)

















Suistoalue (Delta area)
(Pori delta area is the biggest delta area in northern Europe. Famous for its birds. Starts from Kirjurinluoto)
















Suomalainen klubi (Finnish Club)
(Built in 1822 and designed by A. Wahlberg. Includes excellent restaurant. Locates in Eteläranta 10)










Vanha hautausmaa (old cemetery) and Käppärän hautausmaa (Käppärä cemetery)
(This old cemetery was taken in use at 1809. Käppärä cemetery is very large and filled with trees. Both cemeteries are excellent places in summer if you just want to feel the silence. Juselius mausoleum locates at Käppärä cemetery. Both locate at Maantienkatu.)
