KEPPANA KELLARI
(Koivulantie 6, 31350 Liesjärvi)

This must be one of the most extreme whisky places in Finland. Located in a quite small village and there is about 100-150 km trip to bigger Finnish cities. Still has an extremely good collection of whiskies. Approximately 470 different whiskies.
Evaluated: July 2010.
MY VIEWS:
Whisky collection:

According to the bartender, there are approximately 470 whiskies. He couldn't tell how many of these are single malts. I tried to count and I found approximately 190 single malts on the shelves. But because all the bottles were scattered all over the place it is very difficult to say are there more stashed somewhere. And there was no whisky list available. Hopefully that info will be revealed someday. Mainly independent bottles in the collection.
The staff:
Poor knowledge of whiskies by the staff on duty. One guy who tried to serve all the customers.
The environment & atmosphere:
The restaurant looked like a mediterranean taverna. Lots of irritating signs, like you're not welcomed if you don't behave properly. It's like all the customers are potential hooligans. Church feeling. Even for a restaurant.
Variety of collection:
Excellent variety with different independent bottles.

That good whisky collection saves this place. Very odd restaurant in the
middle of nowhere. You just have to see this with your own eyes.
